DFG announces major instrumentation funding for UAS : Date:

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) has announced a new funding opportunity for universities of applied sciences (UAS): In three consecutive calls for proposals, UAS may apply for individual research grants (“Sachbeihilfen”) for major instrumentation, provided that the instruments have initially been procured via DFG funds.

The prerequisite for funding is a successful DFG major instrumentation proposal from the last three years either in the “Major Research Instrumentation Programme”, the “Major Instrumentation Campaign UAS 2021”, or the “State Major Instrumentation” programme. The applicants must have been represented by name in the original major instrumentation proposal and must have contributed to the proposal to a relevant extent.

The individual research grant applications should envisage the use of the major instrumentation to a significant extent but are not limited to the project approaches described in the original major instrumentation application. The thematic focus of the research projects may be freely selected. Successful applicants are chosen according to the usual scientific criteria for individual DFG grants.

The DFG plans three consecutive calls for proposals in 2022, 2023 and 2024. For the first call in 2022, project outlines must be submitted by 30 March 2022, and the deadline for full proposals is 31 August 2022. On 21 February, the DFG offers a digital event to provide detailed information on the call. To find out more about this funding opportunity and the information event, please check the DFG website (see right-hand column).
