Within the framework of the impulse partnership Plasma for Life, HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen develops plasma-based applications for medicine. One of the results of this work is the handheld PlasmaDerm device, which activates and supports wound healing by means of cold plasma. This device is expected to be on display from February 2020 in the InnoTruck, a mobile exhibition of the BMBF.

An interactive information terminal in the truck provides additional information on the medical device and explains the basics of plasma technology. HAWK will provide the device on loan for practical demonstration in the InnoTruck. “The exhibition of medical technology in the InnoTruck, which was developed on the basis of many years of plasma research at HAWK, offers immense opportunities for our university and its research,” says Professor Wolfgang Viöl, inventor of the technology and Vice President for Research and Transfer at HAWK.

The truck travels throughout Germany all year round as an “innovation ambassador” and invites visitors to find out about everything from research, technology and application to the associated job profiles and to exchange ideas with the experts on board. The exhibition can be booked free of charge and is particularly suitable for schools, universities and research institutes, and as a highlight at city festivals, science night or technology day events or career and trade fairs.
