Preparation for the DFG review board election in 2027 : Date:
The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) plans to align the subject structure of its review boards with the current requirements of science for the 2028 to 2032 term of office. To this end, the DFG is accepting proposals from the scientific community until early February 2025.
For the realignment of the subject structure, the DFG Senate wants to focus particularly on new developments in emerging fields of research so that science in all its forms and disciplines is covered by the future review boards.
In mid-November 2024, the DFG called on the scientific community to actively participate in the process of shaping the review board structure: Suggestions can be submitted via email until 9 February 2025. Suggestions should preferably be supported by a majority of the respective expert community.
The DFG review boards play a central role in the system of scientific self-organisation: they evaluate the assessment of funding proposals and are also involved in further developing and designing DFG funding programmes. In the current term of office, a total of 214 disciplines are represented in 49 review boards.
The Senate will discuss the new organisation of the review boards at its first reading at the end of 2025. The final decision on the subject structure for the 2027 review board election is expected to be made in spring 2026.
Further information on submitting proposals and the relevant contact persons can be found on the DFG website.
