With its major instrumentation funding in 2023, the DFG aims to provide impetus to expand and use the existing equipment infrastructure already available at many UAS for knowledge-oriented research projects. Additional criteria for success include the integration of the proposed projects into the structural priorities of the UAS as well as institutional support for the research-oriented expansion.

The number of projects is limited to one project proposal per UAS. The thematic focus of the research projects may be freely selected. Successful applicants are chosen according to scientific criteria.

Participants in the call must submit binding letters of intent by 18 April 2023; the deadline for submitting project proposals is 23 May 2023. On 08 February 2023, the DFG offers an information event on the call.
