With KI-Nachwuchs@FH (creation, consolidation and bundling of attractive working and research conditions for young scientists at universities of applied sciences in the field of artificial intelligence), the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding strategic, flexible and long-term investments in research equipment, research facilities and demonstrators for the purpose of application- and transfer-oriented AI research as part of the "Research at Universities of Applied Sciences" programme.

The investment can be used for research and development, for the purpose of training and continuing education of scientific personnel of all qualification levels (from student assistants to doctoral research assistants), for use in teaching (for example, in the context of bachelor's and master's theses) or for cooperation with external partners. Potential external partners are not only companies in the commercial (digital) economy, but also public administration, social service providers and non-university research and transfer partners. The manner of use and the access of different user groups is regulated by a usage concept, the preparation of which is also funded. KI-Nachwuchs@FH funding is a component of the Federal Government's Artificial Intelligence Strategy, but is specifically tailored for UAS. The aim is to cover the demand for skilled workers in the field of AI. KI-Nachwuchs@FH is intended to contribute to strengthening the scientific qualification with AI competencies and the quality and performance of UAS in the field of AI.
